Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

By using The Rhetoric Studio, you agree to these terms. We've kept them short and written in plain language — no jargon, no surprises.

Questions? Email support@therhetoricstudio.com.

1. What this is

The Rhetoric Studio is a practice space for impromptu speaking — built for anyone who wants to get better at thinking and expressing themselves on their feet, in private, without pressure. It's here to help you grow, nothing more.

The AI feedback is a training partner, not a professional assessment. Treat your scores as a guide for practice, not a verdict on your abilities.

2. Who can use this app

You may use The Rhetoric Studio if you are at least 13 years old. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Each account is for one person. Do not share your account or sign-in links with others.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use the app for its intended purpose — practising speaking. You agree not to:

  • Submit content that is illegal, hateful, threatening, or harmful.
  • Attempt to abuse, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Use the app to generate content intended to deceive or harm others.
  • Try to extract or misuse the API keys or server-side logic.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data.

4. Your content

The transcripts of your spoken practice responses belong to you. We store them solely to provide you with your history and progress tracking. We do not claim ownership of anything you say or type into the app.

You grant us a limited licence to store and process your content as necessary to operate the service (for example, sending it to the AI for scoring). This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account.

5. AI-generated feedback

Scores and feedback are generated automatically by an AI language model. They are intended as a rough guide for practice — not a definitive or professional assessment of your speaking abilities. Two responses on the same topic may receive slightly different scores; this is a known limitation of AI evaluation.

Facts and information cited in the feedback are provided for educational interest and may occasionally be imprecise or out of date. Always verify anything important independently before relying on it.

Scores and feedback are generated by AI using a rubric adapted from publicly available public-speaking assessment research. They are intended for personal practice only and do not constitute a certified, professional, or academic evaluation.

6. Intellectual property

The Rhetoric Studio — including its design, text, code, and branding — is owned by its operator. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the app without permission.

The AI-generated prompts and feedback produced for your sessions are generated specifically for your use. You're welcome to use them for your own personal learning and notes.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the app available and working, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The service is provided free of charge and may be updated, paused, or discontinued at any time. We'll try to give reasonable notice of significant changes where possible.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Rhetoric Studio is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the AI feedback will be accurate or complete.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of The Rhetoric Studio will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of the app, your reliance on AI-generated feedback, or any interruption to the service.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after updated terms are posted means you accept the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you have a dispute, please contact us first at support@therhetoricstudio.com — most issues can be resolved quickly and informally.
